“Carmela from RC in Armadale was our stylist and helped me through the experience of trying on different gowns before coming across the Berta gown. She was so warm and friendly, and wanted the experience to be special for me. She treated my mum and sister with a lot of respect and involved them in the fittings which I appreciated.”
#RCREALBRIDE CINDY
RC – How did you meet Justin?
We met through mutual friends at a bar in Melbourne in the summer of 2014. Justin asked me if I wanted to dance, but I said no because my feet were sore. Luckily Justin continued to chat to me and bought me a drink. I went to Bali the next day and when I returned from my trip a few weeks later, Justin asked me out on our first date (dinner in the city) and the rest is history.
RC – How did Justin propose?
Justin took me on a weekend trip away to Philip Island in October 2015 under the guise of it being a belated treat for my 30th birthday. We spent the Saturday having a romantic helicopter ride and delicious lunch at Bass Valley Wines. Then at night time Justin took me to see the Fairy Penguins, as I have never seen them before. We sat in the cold at the beach waiting for the penguins to come out at dusk, it was very cute when they finally did come back from the ocean. When we got back to the beach house at night, Justin was about to propose to me but I immediately changed into pyjamas and started eating 2 minute noodles, so the romantic moment was lost. Justin decided to wait for a better opportunity. The next day on the drive home, we stopped by a beach lookout point where Justin asked me to marry him and I said yes.
RC – Is there a particular reason as to why you chose your venue?
St Patrick’s Cathedral was where we had our church ceremony, we loved the breathtaking architecture and serene peaceful atmosphere. It was very special for my side of the family who are quite devout Catholics.
Carousel on Albert Park Lake was our reception venue, which I absolutely love for the spectacular waterfront views, and the modern open space plan. The Style Co did a fabulous job in creating an earthy, whimsical, romantic atmosphere for our reception venue with abundance of fresh flowers, candles, greenery under a canopy of fairy lights.
RC – Your favourite part of the wedding?
The highlight of the wedding for me was when my stepdad walked me down the aisle and having all our beloved family and friends turn around to smile at us, and seeing Justin’s face as we walk down. I am sure this is a memorable moment for most brides. The other highlight was when Justin and some of his boys did a surprise flashmob dance for me, serenading me with “Everytime you Cry” by John Farnham & Human Nature as everyone knows Human Nature is my favourite band.
RC – How did the dress make you feel?
The dress was so beautiful and fitted my frame well, as I am quite petite. The dress didn’t overpower me at all and I felt like I was in a modern fairytale wearing the stunning Berta gown. My family and friends all loved the dress which made me very happy.
RC – How was your bridal shopping experience?

RC – Tips for brides-to-be!
My tip for brides-to-be would be to start the planning early and organise the big items first such as the venue and wedding dress. Choosing the perfect wedding dress for you takes time, and the process should be as enjoyable and magical as possible!
