“Trunk show” is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot in bridal but can be the source of much confusion for brides. In this blog post, we’ll break down this elusive term so that you’re no longer left scratching your head.

So, what is a trunk show?

Contrary to popular belief, a trunk show doesn’t involve large boxes with hinged lids or the back of a car. Rather, a trunk show is an exciting event whereby designers showcase their latest wedding dress collection in a retail space – think of it as a “designer preview”. Hot off the runway, these dresses embody all the features that are trending in bridal right now.

How long does a trunk show run for?

Trunk show collections journey from store-to-store across the entire globe. As such, these precious commodities are generally available in a single location for one weekend only, sometimes two. Over the action-packed trunk show period, brides will have the opportunity to try on a designer’s collection before it is permanently stocked in retail stores.

Why should I attend a trunk show?

A trunk show is a unique opportunity to view and try on a designer’s full collection. This is especially significant because once the trunk show has finished, boutiques typically only stock a select range of dresses within the collection. Once the dresses get put back in the trunk (pun intended) and shipped off to their next glorious international destination, you may not be able to view them again. To view a stunning new collection in all its glory, a trunk show visit is a must!

How can I view a trunk show collection?

During a trunk show period, stores can get very busy. As such, we recommend booking an appointment well in advance to ensure you don’t miss out! You can keep up to date with our upcoming trunk shows by following Raffaele Ciuca on Instagram and Facebook as well as viewing our 2021 event calendar.
