“Carmela was the stylist at the time, and she was so helpful and calm at the same time. I went back the second time with my mum to try on the dress with a few other alternatives to ‘make sure’, and I chose that first dress after all.”

RC – How did you meet Dennis?
Our stars aligned one night at Long room Bar in Melbourne City. It was a girls night out & I was the designated driver. I first met Dennis at the table lounge area where he offered me some food, I couldn’t say no to food (haha). It wasn’t love at first sight, but it turned out to be one of the biggest love I found. We spoke, there was no flirting, and became great friends!
RC – How did Dennis propose?
It was September in Europe, we were travelling with my best friend who was living in London at the time and 3 other very close friends from Melbourne. As we were strolling through the golden bridge at Pont Alexander III in Paris, we all turned around to take a group selfie with the Eiffel Tower in the background. As the camera clicked, my best friend pulled out banner showing ‘Mia, will you marry me’? I turned to Dennis and he was then on his knees with the ring and proposed. It was the most emotional day of my life. I was so happy I could not hold back my happy tears all night! We were so blessed and grateful to have our closest friends there to be part of the proposal plan that was executed so perfectly. They had the whole proposal on the GoPro camera too!
RC – Is there a particular reason as to why you chose your venue?
I’ve always loved the coloured glass windows at our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. I knew that one day, on my wedding day, I’d want the ceremony to be taken place there.
For the reception, we wanted a light filled space as the canvas for my styling ideas. When we saw the glass room over looking the bay at Sandringham Yacht Club, we fell in love with the space and knew straight away, it was the one. Tevany from Sandringham Yacht club also made the whole process so stress-free and absolutely pleasant, she truly provided first class service. We would highly recommend SYC for event planning.
RC – Your favourite part of the wedding?
When my dad walked me down the aisle at the Church. The emotions were so surreal to see my husband standing there, and ready to take my hand. It was such a special moment.
RC – How did the dress make you feel?
I felt very elegant, not over done, yet chic in my dress. I wanted a touch of vintage in my dress, and something that I would be comfortable in all day, and my dress did just that. I was very happy with my beautiful Maggie Sottero Dress.
RC – How was your bridal shopping experience?
Believe it or not, it was the first dress and the first store I went to during my quest to search of the perfect dress. Carmela was the stylist at the time, and she was so helpful and calm at the same time. I went back the second time with my mum to try on the dress with a few other alternatives to ‘make sure’, and I chose that first dress after all.
RC – Tips for brides-to-be!
When you come across a dress you try on that feels right, just go with it. There are too many dresses out there that will just confuse and stress you out more if you spend too long looking for one.
