THE FIRST SIGHT
Ben and I actually met online, very 21st century. We talked for weeks on the phone until I found the courage to go on our first date. By then I felt like we had known each other for years. It was a very romantic dinner followed by dessert. He was an absolute gentleman and I was already falling in love.
THE PROPOSAL
On our first New Years Eve together, we decided to escape the city to the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne. We wined and dined and strolled to the pier at midnight to watch the fireworks. As the clock struck 12am – Ben pulled me close, whispered three special words and promised they would last forever. Fast forward 2 years – at the very same location, Ben whispered the same words, knelt to one knee, and I promised forever with a big YES!
THE VENUE
We chose to marry overseas in Mykonos, Greece. My dad was born in Greece, so it was very sentimental. We travelled for 2 weeks around Greece with most of our wedding guests before the big day which made it all even more exciting. We found the most perfect church just behind the iconic Myconian windmills overlooking the ocean and then we spoilt our guests to an evening of eating, drinking and dancing at the incredible Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort.
THE FAVOURITE MOMENT
It’s greek tradition that you drive the bride through the town beeping the car horn. As we drove through the narrow Mykonos streets, all the shoppers, tourists and locals surrounded the car, clapping and cheering, it was so surreal. Later that day Ben told me he could hear the beeping and cheering, so he knew we were near. I go back to that feeling in the car, nervous and excited, wanting to cherish every second, about to marry my best friend, my soul mate.
THE DRESS
My dress was an absolute dream. It was the first dress I tried on, and after trying on only 2 other dresses, I knew my dress was the one. It felt like home, it felt like it was designed especially for me. It wasn’t what I originally thought I would wear, but once I saw it on, I couldn’t imagine being married in anything else.
THE RC EXPERIENCE
I went into RC to get an idea of some wedding dress styles I might like and I walked out with my gown. The girls were amazing, so understanding, gentle, and truly excited for you. Given they do have the best job ever, they really do love what they do, and it really shows. They made the experience an absolute delight, a feeling you carry with your dress on your wedding day. My dress was filled with great energy, and I was so excited to radiate that energy on the day.
ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES
Something will go wrong. Many things will go wrong. And it will still be the best day of your life. That’s the magic of your wedding day. Enjoy the magic!
