“My mum and I booked an appointment with RC one day, it was so much fun trying on different dresses. As soon as I put my dress on I knew that it was the one! I visited so many bridal boutiques trying to find the right dress for my body that fell within my price range. I was just so glad that the stress of finding a wedding dress was over and done with so early on.”

RC – How did you meet your husband?
Stan and I met at LOTE school a very long time ago. After hitting it off, Stan took me to the movies, as you do when you are fourteen, however, because we were so young, things just never progressed into a serious relationship. After school had finished, and years had gone by, we reconnected at a mutual friends occasion. I saw Stan from across the room, and I just felt like something was different this time around. Before you knew it, we were chatting, laughing and organising a catch up. Four years later… well, here we are. Happily married to my best friend.
RC – The proposal?
Stan has organised a romantic weekend at The Langham Hotel for the two of us to spend some time away from home together – well at least that’s what I thought. We were preparing to go out to dinner, Stan was in the shower and I was doing my hair. Stan called out to me (as he usually does), asking me to get his socks from his bag, so, I walked over to get them for him. As I uncoiled his socks, I noticed my beautiful ring. Before I could say anything, I turned around to find Stan on one knee. He asked me to marry him and of course I said yes. There were tears of joy and smiles all night long.
RC – Is there a particular reason as why you chose your venue?
We just loved the views at The Peak, Flemington Racecourse. The venue is situated on the 5th floor, and it overlooks the racecourse. The overall ambience of Flemington Racecourse is so beautiful and peaceful (when there isn’t a race on) and the gardens and grounds are so well maintained, it is gorgeous. We were so lucky that it didn’t rain on our wedding day, guests were able to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails and canapes in the mounting yard. We also liked that it was different to other venues that are out there and it caters for big weddings like ours was.
RC – Your favourite part of your wedding?
I have a few favourites… Firstly it was seeing Stan, waiting for me at the altar – I couldn’t wait to just hug him. I also really enjoyed the company of our bridal party whilst we were taking photos after the ceremony had finished. We all had a great laugh, we were relaxed and ready to get the party started. Our entrance was also another highlight for me. Stan is a huge soccer fan, so we entered with “The Cup Of Life” by Ricky Martin. As corny as that is, it is a great song to dance to, Stan and I circled the dance floor as our guests clapped and danced along. It was so much fun!
RC – How your dress made you feel?
My dress made me feel like a princess. I wanted something that was really bridal and it was exactly that. I also really loved the glistening beads that shined so beautifully in the light. I didn’t want to take it off. I would love to convert it into a mini dress somehow so I can wear it for my one year wedding anniversary. That would be fabulous!
RC – Your bridal shopping experience?
My mum and I booked an appointment with RC one day, it was so much fun trying on different dresses. As soon as I put my dress on I knew that it was the one! I visited so many bridal boutiques trying to find the right dress for my body that fell within my price range. I was just so glad that the stress of finding a wedding dress was over and done with so early on.
RC – Tips for brides to be?
Honestly, I would really suggest hiring a wedding planner. I don’t know what I would have done without Nadia from The Super Styler. I was so stress free throughout the entire wedding planning process and it also allowed for an element of surprise on the wedding day. It also allowed me to concentrate on other things like my hair, dress and make up and really just enjoy the whole wedding experience. Also, make sure you have someone on hair and dress duties for the day/night – it’s helpful to have someone constantly looking out for you that knows where your flats are, how to tuck your dress, to fix your veil so it looks right for the photos.
