There’s no better friend than a friend that sets you up with the love of your life! Stacey met Steven when her friend Jen set them up, and Steven fell head over heels the moment he saw her! Not only that, they figured their parents were high school buddies too, so their love is no short than perfect fate!

#RCRealBride Stacey wore the Berta 18-110 gown. A glittering beauty! This glamorous A-line bridal gown features a laser-cut lace overlay on a structured bodice. With a plunging V neckline, thin straps and a long dramatic train, it’s surely a Berta masterpiece.

THE FIRST SIGHT

Steven and I were a set up through my childhood girlfriend. I had very little faith in the concept of a set up so I didn’t think anything of it. The day I met him I was proven so very wrong!! He sat down with my girlfriend and I and the first thing he said to my girlfriend was “Jen you said she was pretty??? She’s gorgeous!!!” how does one not fall in love from there. Our first date was at the European on Spring Street, followed by a romantic dessert (crème brule) at the Supper Club overlooking the beautiful Parliament house. We also worked out that our mothers knew eachother in high school and our uncles and aunties were close friends. It just seemed a little too much like fate.

THE PROPOSAL

It was the second year of our relationship and I was leaving for my family’s annual trip to Noosa. Steven had told me he had an important appointment booked during this time so will not be able to attend. Every morning my family and I would do the treck up the Noosa National forest. On one particular day my mum decided she wanted to take family photos along the way, so ordered us to dress up in something nice and presentable. On the way up she said she had forgotten her phone, so will run back to hotel room and meet me at the first point. All of a sudden, in the beautiful gardens overlooking the ocean, I see a man with very familiar shoes and  a massive bouquet of beautiful flowers heading towards me. He gets down on one knee and the rest was history from there.

THE VENUE

We chose Metropolis Events as our venue. We had gone to 3 other venues prior and had appointments booked for another 2. When we walked into Metropolis our jaws dropped!! They had beautiful floor to ceiling windows that gave us a New York loft vibe. The décor was very gold and Gatsby which got us both very excited. What won us over in the end was that Metropolis Events didn’t have as many add ons as many other venues, keeping the price within our budget. Our wedding planner Sian created an amazing and effortless experience from the beginning. She was down to earth and did not have a pushy approach. Steven immediately cancelled our other appointments and we booked a weekend for our wedding straight away. Over all Metroplis Events turned our wedding into a fairy tale.

FAVORITE MOMENT

Our first dance (unchained melody – righteous brothers). It was the first time where we got to breathe the whole experience of the day in. It felt like it was just us two in the room. What made the day more special was that unchanged melody started playing in the car as I pulled up to church before the ceremony. It was like a dream.

THE DRESS

I felt like an absolute princess!!!!!! We had tried 3 others stores before finding my dress, however I had already booked the Berta trunk show prior to looking. I had been looking at their Instagram and fell in love with how different her dresses were to the norm. I chose my dress because I had never seen a lace of that shape. The winning factor was that the dress was a different colour in every light. It was super sparkly in some lights and then not in others. It would throw off different tones such as silver and golds depending on the light it was in. It was truly a piece of art.

FINDING THE ONE

Maria at the Armadale store was the stylist who looked after us at the Berta trunk show. She made the overall experience so unforgettable. We were greated with champaigne and cakes at the door and Maria kept the momentum going throughout the whole experience. She offered very honest advice and was very enthusiastic. It was evident she was very passionate about what she does!

ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES

Try not to stress too much (hard I know!!) but everything naturally falls into place in the end. I put a lot of faith in my suppliers and they all delivered. I provided them with a theme and what I love and let them just run with it as I trusted their abilities. The key to keeping a happy relationship….always show respect to one another and having patience and understanding for each others differences!!
