Who said you can’t find the love of your life on Tinder? #RCREALBRIDE Mimi has given us all hope that love can be found online! Mimi + Jason had a wedding that we wish we had an invite to. Mimi screamed elegance and classic beauty with a modern twist in her fit and flare La Sposa gown in Hasina. A dazzling design thanks to the exquisite bataue neckline, with shimmering gemstones that turned Mimi’s back into a feature. Married in Melbourne’s stunning Botanical Gardens followed by a chić Melbourne CBD reception at Mon Bijou on Flinders Lane. Mimi + Jason’s guests enjoyed flowing cocktails while admiring the beautiful Melbourne city skyline. But let us not forget to mention the personalised Nutella jars given as bonbonerie, this whole wedding screamed modern elegance and above all else a undeniable love between two people. Photography: Camilla Kirk THE FIRST SIGHT Jason and I met the good old fashioned way….on Tinder! We laugh at how we met, as I was his first match and I had only been on the app for 1 week also. I was the one that set up the first date for coffee. Apparently, I didn’t let Jason get a word on edgewise, but he was still interested enough to call me for a second coffee date a few days later. It was just a nice friendship to begin with but then I took him to the opening of a Cirque Du Soleil show (I used to work for the company) and we both knew from that date on, it was for the long run. We both felt very comfortable and relaxed with each other. THE PROPOSAL I was desperately hoping it would happen as I knew early on that he was the man for me. But I did not expect it when he did it. We were on our first big overseas trip together in the USA. We had just finished an early walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and were sitting looking at the Manhattan skyline. I asked for some change and instead he placed a ring in my hand. It was a perfect surprise. THE VENUE Although we are both not from Melbourne originally, we knew that we wanted our wedding to represent us and our way of living. We had taken many walks through the Melbourne Botanical Gardens while dating, so we knew immediately we wanted the ceremony there. It has a great view of the city but also a relaxed atmosphere. From there we had also decided we didn’t need the formality of a sit-down wedding and we wanted just our closest family and friends to be a part of our special day, so we decided on a cocktail event in the city. Again, it was all about the view for us, so we found Mon Bijou on Flinders Lane. A great view, intimate setting and the best cocktails. FAVOURITE MOMENT For me the best part was seeing Jason waiting for me at the end of the aisle. I immediately felt calm and couldn’t wait to get to him. Our celebrant, Andrew Redman, was also a ceremony highlight. He made us and our guests laugh and really bought the whole ceremony together. We also felt so happy that our guests, drank, ate and danced the night away. It was great to see everyone laughing and just enjoying the night. To top off the night, we gorged on the best cake ever from Burch and Purchese. For us it was about our favourite things rather than the traditional. THE DRESS I knew from the outset that my dress had to scream classic elegance. It had to be simple but with some special detail. I was very fortunate that I really only tried on about 3 dresses. I knew immediately that the La Sposa dress was the one and knew I didn’t have to try anything more. I was shocked that I went for something with a train but I loved every inch of it. FINDING THE ONE We went into RC on a whim as my mum was in town before Christmas and I really wanted her with me. I am not a traditional bride so wasn’t sure what RC would have for me. But Billy was amazing and she led me to the La Sposa immediately. It encapsulated everything that I could have hoped for. ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES We loved our wedding because it felt like us. We chose what was the most important aspects to include and stick with that. Its tempting to get wrapped up in trying on all the dresses, getting all the decorations, flowers and entertainment. In the end, its about the 2 of you and the rest is just a bonus. Also, can you give us a tip on how to keep a happy relationship? Its important to know yourselves and keep open and clear communication. Its not always easy being open, but it’s the only way a relationship can last. Accept each other as you are and appreciate each other every day.
