This week we interviewed #rcrealbride Jessica
who married the love of her life Cameron in our Winifred wedding gown by Maggie Sottero on the 10th May 2017 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
THE FIRST SIGHT
We met each other in January 2009, at Cruze Nightclub in Mornington. The way we met isn’t your typical “love story” – but I think it’s 100% what makes us the couple we are (and are known to family and friends!). Unique. On that night, our separate groups of friends were outside getting fresh air, and at that exact time, a random drunk girl stumbled out of the nightclub and happened to projectile vomit right near our feet. This is what sparked the conversation between us… How romantic! It gets better… (not really!). We decided to get some McDonalds on the way home and Cameron thought it would be a great idea to get my attention by slamming his cheeseburger on either side of my face. Who said chivalry is dead.
THE PROPOSAL
I was extremely lucky and got two proposals. First one was in the garage of my mum’s house and the second one was in Mexico with rose petals and all. Both times he was just as nervous, but made it just as special. (I found out that the second one was supposed to be the “official” one – but Cam got too nervous to carry the ring whilst travelling in South America beforehand.)
THE VENUE
We got married in Los Cabos, Mexico – the resort was called Pueblo Bonito Sunset Resort. (If you haven’t been, GO!)
We chose Mexico because it was a place where we got engaged, and once we decided on a destination wedding – it was the only place that made really made sense. The amazing backdrop was unforgettable – we didn’t really need any bells or whistles, just our family and friends to fill up the space!
THE FAVOURITE MOMENT
My favourite part was taking a moment and really digesting what was happening… a wedding… in Mexico… with 60 of our family and friends…. having the best time of our lives. They honestly will be memories we’ll have forever.
(oh, and lots of dancing and tequila!)
THE DRESS
I honestly had that cliché moment when finding the dress… Went shopping with my mum, it was the first (and last) day, second dress I tried on, the waterworks started by mum and I felt perfect. What I loved even more was, during the process – I never took a photo of me in the dress, and each time I tried on for fittings, the more I fell in love with it.
FINDING THE ONE
I had NO idea what I wanted to wear, so just needed to try on styles to get an idea.
Lucy (from Brunswick store) was my dress consultant, and she made my experience memorable and fun. Her honesty was exactly what I needed, and she definitely knew what she was doing! I not only loved the dress she insisted I try on but it suited my body and wedding perfectly. I’d recommend her any day.
ADVICE
Choose a dress that makes you feel like you (if something isn’t right, it usually isn’t!)
Enjoy every second…. the lead up, during and post wedding, everything!
Don’t let silly things get to you – it’s seriously not worth it!
