THE FIRST SIGHT
Alex and I first met working at Kmart when I was just 15 and he was 19. I always thought he was cute, but we didn’t hit it off until I was 17. Eight years later and we’ve never looked back!
THE PROPOSAL
We went for a day trip to the Trentham / Daylesford area, which holds great family significance to Alex. On our way into Daylesford, we decided to stop at Trentham Falls and climb down to the bottom of the waterfall. Alex had just had shoulder surgery a couple weeks earlier and was standing behind me as I was busy taking photos of the beautiful scenery. All of a sudden I hear him say from behind me “I think you should take a photo of this”. I turned around, and there he was down on one knee holding the ring of my dreams. He had even managed to take his arm out of the sling too! The rest is all a bit of a blur as I was in so much shock!!
THE VENUE
Carousel was the very last venue we looked at, but as soon as we walked in and saw the spectacular view, we knew it was the one. I loved how bright and open the whole set up was, and it was really important to us to have a nice outdoor area as well, having a summer wedding. We also got to dress it up however we wanted too which I really enjoyed, coming from a design background. On the day the venue looked incredible, decked out with a large display of white flowers and lots of green foliage.
THE FAVOURITE MOMENT
Our favourite part of the wedding had to be when our beautiful Groodle Frankie joined us for some photos in Queens Park. Alex and I treat our dog Frankie like our child, so it was really important to have him involved in the day some how. He behaved so well, and was a big hit with all the guests. The photos turned out great too!
THE DRESS
The dress made me feel so elegant and beautiful! Its so crazy how the style is like nothing I would usually wear (I hate wearing anything tight fitted), but it was the very first dress I tried on at Raffaele Ciuca, and I knew right away that it was the one. When looking for the dress, I knew I wanted something a little different, and I loved the intricacy of all the beads and the layers of fabric. I also got to add a few of my own little touches too, which really made it feel like my own.
THE RC EXPERIENCE
Rita in the Brunswick alterations department did such an amazing job at making my dress truly beautiful. She understood exactly what I wanted, and made sure every detail was just perfect. The addition of removable off the shoulder sleeves was something I really wanted to include, and the alterations staff did such a fantastic job making them look like they were always part of the dress.
ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES
Things are going to go wrong on the day! Trust me, it’s all part of the fun. Just try to relax, and know all that matters is that you are there together with your partner celebrating the love you have for one another. The day goes just as quickly as an ordinary day, so make sure you take some time out together just to take it all in.
